External Advocacy

At Body Buddies, we’re more than just a social enterprise - we’re a passionate voice for health education, organ donation, and inclusive care in communities across Australia.

Our advocacy efforts go beyond our cuddly organ-shaped toys. We believe in using storytelling, education, and community collaboration to create lasting change. Here’s how we champion health awareness and equity across the country:

Parliamentary Friends of Organ Donation Victoria

In partnership with Transplant Australia and HASA (Hospital and Health Services Association), Body Buddies was honoured to help launch the Parliamentary Friends of Organ Donation group in Victoria.

This cross-party initiative brings together Members of Parliament, healthcare leaders, and advocates with a shared goal: to elevate the conversation around organ and tissue donation and drive meaningful policy and community change.

The group's key goals include:

  • Raising awareness of the life-saving impact of organ and tissue donation
  • Promoting equitable access to transplantation services across Victoria
  • Supporting donor families and recipients through improved health literacy and community engagement
  • Encouraging bipartisan support for future initiatives that grow Australia’s donor register

Body Buddies is proud to represent the youth and education lens in this space, reminding policymakers that early conversations and creative health education can have a long-term impact on saving lives.

DonateLife Organ Donation Campaign

🗓️ In July 2024, Body Buddies was honoured to be part of DonateLife's national campaign for organ donation awareness! As part of DonateLife Week—an annual initiative that runs every July—our plushies were proudly featured alongside young organ recipients across several major news channels. It was an incredible opportunity to amplify the voices of transplant recipients and promote the life-changing impact of donation through powerful, child-friendly storytelling.
